Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai receives invitation for inauguration of Sarona and Balod railway stations under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Raipur, July 16, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today met Shri Dayanand, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Raipur Division, at his official residence in Raipur. During the meeting, the DRM presented an invitation on behalf of Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw for the inauguration of the redeveloped Sarona and Balod railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. They also discussed the upgraded passenger amenities, infrastructure improvements and the modernization of the two stations.
Describing the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme as a visionary initiative, Chief Minister said it reflects the Centre’s commitment to developing a modern, safe and passenger-friendly railway network. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, he said Indian Railways is undergoing unprecedented transformation, with railway stations across the country being upgraded with world-class infrastructure and improved passenger facilities.
Chief Minister said railways are not merely a mode of transport but a catalyst for trade, tourism, regional development and economic growth. Modernisation of railway stations, he said, will strengthen local economies, create employment opportunities and improve regional connectivity. He expressed confidence that the redevelopment of Sarona and Balod railway stations would significantly enhance passenger convenience while giving fresh impetus to economic and social activities in the region.
Shri Sai said the coordinated efforts of the Double Engine Government are accelerating the expansion of modern railway infrastructure in Chhattisgarh. Improved rail connectivity, he said, will encourage investment, industry, trade and tourism while making travel safer, more convenient and efficient for the people.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually inaugurate redeveloped railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme on July 17. The scheme aims to transform railway stations into modern, accessible, safe and passenger-friendly transport hubs.
