Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai gives major development boost to Kunkuri region: foundation stone laid and inauguration of 12 development works worth over Rs 16 crore

High-level bridges, modern ‘haat’ bazaars, fruit and vegetable market and Mahtari Sadans to accelerate rural development

Raipur, May 10, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday performed the ‘bhoomipujan’ and inauguration of 12 development works more than Rs 16.5 crore during a programme held at Gram Panchayat Kaliba under Kunkuri development block in Jashpur district.
These development works include important infrastructure projects such as high-level bridges, modern ‘haat’ bazaars, fruit and vegetable market, school buildings and Mahtari Sadans, which will strengthen transportation, education, agricultural marketing, women empowerment and rural infrastructure in the region.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is committed to ensuring development reaches villages, the poor, farmers and the last person in society. He stated that basic infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools, markets and women’s centres are not merely construction works, but important instruments for strengthening the rural economy and social life. These projects will bring positive changes in people’s lives and create new opportunities in rural areas.

Chief Minister Shri Sai performed the bhoomipujan of 8 development works worth Rs 12 crore 86 lakh 3 thousand during the programme. Through the Chhattisgarh State Agricultural Marketing Board, a modern haat bazaar will be constructed at Gram Panchayat Kaliba at a cost of Rs 57.66 lakh, with facilities such as covered sheds, borewell and CC roads. Similarly, another modern ‘haat’ bazaar will be built at Gram Panchayat Behrakhar at a cost of Rs 80.59 lakh. These markets will provide farmers and rural traders with better and more convenient places to sell their produce and will boost local trade.

The Public Works Department (Bridge Division) will construct a high-level bridge and approach road on the Kaliba–Tangarbahar (Baigatoli) route at a cost of around Rs 5.11 crore. Another high-level bridge and approach road will be constructed over Champajhariya Nala on the Banspatra–Duldula route at a cost of Rs 5 crore 90 lakh 80 thousand. These bridges will significantly improve connectivity, especially during the monsoon season, and provide long-awaited relief to villagers facing transportation difficulties.

Along with this, ‘bhoomipujan’ was also performed for the construction of new school buildings under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department for Primary School Korwadera, Primary School Dadgaon, Boys Middle School Narayanpur and Primary School Lalgoda. These new buildings will provide students with improved educational infrastructure and a better learning environment.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai also inaugurated 4 completed development works worth Rs 3 crore 19 lakh 88 thousand. Under the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Jashpur, a fruit and vegetable market along with warehouse, platform, toilets, parking and CC roads constructed at Upmandi Kunkuri located in Gram Panchayat Kandora (Mahuatoli) at a cost of Rs 2 crore 45 lakh 78 thousand was inaugurated. The new market facility will provide farmers and traders with improved storage, transportation and marketing facilities for agricultural produce.

In addition, Mahtari Sadans constructed at Dhodhibahar, Narayanpur and Keradih under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department were also inaugurated. Each Mahtari Sadan has been built at a cost of Rs 24.70 lakh.
